How to Enter

We want to celebrate you in 2024!

It’s time to showcase Aotearoa’s diverse research commercialisation stories, and the impact that science discoveries are making to New Zealanders, and the world.

We’re looking for:

  • Inspiring and enterprising individuals and teams
  • Diversity – of expertise, ideas, people, and impact
  • Engagement with and impact for the Māori economy

The Entry Process

  • Enter via email to admin@kiwinet.org.nz - using the forms here
  • The KiwiNet team can help to craft your entry for you, if required
  • We'll also be actively nominating projects – you may receive a call from us!

How will it work this year?

  • Entries will be judged by our expert panel
  • Finalists will be filmed across May & June
  • Finalists will attend a virtual pitch day in September for final judging
  • Winners are announced at the Awards evening on 9th October

Finalists receive:

  • A free promo video showcasing your entry. These are made available to the finalists, to be used as they wish, after the Awards*.
  • The opportunity to promote your work and achievements nationally, with the help of PR expert, Sandra Lukey, Shine Communications.
  • Dedicated media coverage of finalists and winners.
  • A trophy recognising your achievement.
  • Exposure at the Awards evening to hundreds of influential guests from the deep-tech sector
  • Free entry to the official Awards evening for you and a colleague.
  • Further opportunities for Finalists are also in development!

What’s the commitment?

  • Stage One entails completion of the entry form, which requires a up to 750 words about the person or partnership entered. Any questions? Just ask us!
  • If selected as finalist, we'll arrange to produce a short video about your entry – we come to you. This takes approximately 1.5hrs of time for two people that you choose to represent your entry in the film. For examples of the finished product, please review the videos of previous finalists and winners.
  • Stage Two requires the finalists to provide a 5 minute pre-recorded video pitch, for judges to review
  • Stage Three requires the finalists to be available for a 10 minute Q&A session with judges, held over Zoom
  • There is also the cocktail celebration evening where our winners are announced!

  • April 2024 - Finalists selected
  • May-June - Finalist promo videos filmed
  • August - Finalists announced
  • 1 September - Finalists' 5min pitch videos due for judging
  • 24 September - KiwiNet Awards Finalists' Q&A with Judges (virtual event)
  • 29 October 2024 - KiwiNet Awards Evening Reception (in-person event)
