This patent family protects transcription factor sequences which regulate anthocyanin production in plant species. Our patents specify sequences relating to apple, crab apple, European pear, Asian pear, Chinese white pear, quince, Japanese plum, cherry plum, peach, loquat, almond, sweet cherry, medlar. The New Zealand and Australian claims allow for 65% sequence identity to genes described in the specification. In Europe and US must have 90% identity to sequence identified from apple (Malus domestica). Separate patents were also filed on kiwifruit, avocado, strawberry where the sequences weren’t captured by sequence identity to apple.
