Arrian obtained his Master of Engineering in Low-Power Wireless Communications from AUT University in 2008, after graduating top of his class in 2007 from a Bachelor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering also at AUT. Since 2009 Arrian has been pursuing a Ph.D. in modelling and control of a pilot plant bioreactor, developed by Scion NZ. In addition to his University work Arrian has worked closely with Transpower to upgrade their Reserve Management Tool, a model of the entire NZ power system used to determine current reserve capacity. In addition, Arrian has worked in the renewable energy sector, installing and maintaining photovoltaic arrays and micro-hydro systems.
