Executive Manager: Commercial
Trained as an organic chemist, Darren completed a PhD at UQ and post-doctoral studies at Univ. Florida. Darren led the contracted research group at CSIRO's Division of Molecular Science for ~5 years before taking on the role of Executive Officer to a sequence CSIRO’s CEOs over more than 2 years. Darren then spent the following 2 years in two back-to-back secondments in two Melbourne based venture capital firms as an investment manager/analyst for equity placements in to early stage in life-science companies. Darren returned to CSIRO to join what is now the Intellectual Property and Licensing group. In this team Darren developed and managed CSIRO’s Australian Growth Partnership (AGP) program which is a $16 million initiative to invest in high-potential SMEs. With AGP now embedded in CSIRO Darren has for the last 12 months led the commercialisation of CSIRO’s high impact polymer technology, "RAFT". Darren is CSIRO’s nominee director on 2 early stage companies.
