Neville Quérée is responsible for the operational and strategic management of Callaghan Innovation’s IP portfolio from initial invention disclosure through to technology deployment. He takes an active part in IP commercialisation projects providing IP advice and services as well as overseeing the operation of Callaghan Innovation’s licensing agreements and other contractual commitments involving IP.

Upon graduating in 1976 with an Honours degree majoring in Chemistry, Neville spent many years in various manufacturing and new product development roles involving fast moving consumer goods through to componentry for the car assembly and building industries. During this period he also spent a year as Analytical Chemist with the Industrial Processing Division of the DSIR.

From 1986 to 2003 he was employed by multinational company Unilever in a variety of management roles principally involving new product, packaging and manufacturing process development and industrial engineering based both in New Zealand and overseas. During this time Neville interacted with many parts of the global Unilever business, especially in South East Asia, and worked very closely with various functions including Purchasing, Marketing, Logistics/Supply Chain, Commercial, Engineering and Research and Development. As Technical Manager he assumed responsibility for all technical support functions in New Zealand including R&D, Quality Assurance, Product Safety and Legal Compliance. During this time he contributed towards many new product launches and manufacturing plant upgrades helping to ensure the continuing viability of the New Zealand manufacturing operation in spite of intense pressure from other low cost global Unilever competitors.

In search of new challenges involving value creation from innovative science and technology and following independent legal studies, Neville joined Callaghan Innovation in late 2003 as Intellectual Property Manager.
