Stephen joined CSIRO in 2010 as a Commercialisation Manager with a focus on the Energy group. He is involved in the transformation of innovative technologies from the research teams to commercial channels. Since joining CSIRO Stephen has taken a leading commercial role for a range of technologies including; the Ultrabattery which is licensed to Furukawa and East Penn Manufacturing, solar thermal technologies, a range of energy optimisation and ratings software, a number of technologies across the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining CSIRO Stephen spent two years as an Investment Executive within private equity. In this role he was responsible for all phases of the investment process from origination through to exit. Stephen successfully completed a number of mergers, acquisitions and divestments across a broad portfolio of manufacturing, wholesale, retailing and property investments. Stephen has previously developed financial and actuarial pricing models at the Reinsurance Group of America and CommInsure. Stephen also spent seven years at Colonial First State where he held a number of operational, financial and managerial roles. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce (with Merit) in Finance and Business Economics from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He has also completed a Master of Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Master of Actuarial Studies from UNSW. Stephen is a Fellow of FINSIA (F Fin) and an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (AIAA).
