Endometritis in Cattle

Endometritis in Cattle

Post-partum uterine infections or inflammation (endometritis) are the leading causes of reproductive inefficiency in dairy cattle. Diagnosis of endometritis in cattle has been hampered by a lack of simple, effective diagnostic techniques and a poor definition of the disease. This technology is based on the detection of particular protein markers that can sensitively detect uterine infection and inflammation and in addition, indicate the severity of the infection or inflammation.

Objective

AgResearch is looking for a development partner for this technology.

Unique Selling Propositions
  • The test will be accurate and rapid leading to a better diagnosis and the ability to better treat animals with the problem. The same test can also be used to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment.
Applications
  • Use with post-partum cattle by farmers or vets prior to submission for artificial insemination. There is a high likelihood that this kind of tests can be applicable to mares.
