The Centre has been established as an authoritative source of information on the science of agricultural GHG mitigation. Its Mission is “to provide knowledge, technologies and practices which grow agriculture’s ability to create wealth for New Zealand in a carbon constrained world.”
The Centre is 100% Government funded, made available through the Primary Growth Partnership (PGP) in the 2009 New Zealand Government Budget. About $48.5 million will be invested in the Centre by the PGP over ten years.
The Centre is a collaboration of eight leading New Zealand research providers and the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium (PGgRc).
-AgResearch (the host of the NZAGRC) -DairyNZ -Landcare Research -Lincoln University -Massey University -National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Ltd -Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium -The New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research Ltd -New Zealand Forest Research Institute Limited, trading as Scion Research is focused on agricultural greenhouse gas mitigation.The NZAGRC also provides administrative support to the New Zealand based Secretariat of the Global Research Alliance, and manages the Livestock Emissions Abatement Research Network (LEARN).
